Our Story

From a New Zealand farm shed to the world's most trusted automatic chicken feeder.

The Problem That Started It All

Back in 1995, Bill "Grandpa" Kirkham was frustrated. Like most poultry owners, he was spending a fortune on chicken feed, only to watch a large portion of it get eaten by rats and wild birds, or ruined by the rain.

After trying every feeder on the market and finding them all lacking, Bill decided to use his farming ingenuity to build something better.

    The Original Design

The first Grandpa's Feeder was built in a farm shed using scrap metal. The concept was simple but brilliant: a weight-activated treadle that only opened when a chicken stood on it.

It worked perfectly. The rats were locked out, the wild birds couldn't get in, and the feed stayed completely dry. Soon, neighbors were asking Bill to build feeders for them too.
